This is the place holder for the start of the basic ME7 Tuning How To. So far some things I plan to cover are. How to adjust boost. How to adjust rev limit.

How to adjust for larger injectors or higher base fuel pressure. How to adjust WOT fueling. How to adjust part-throttle fueling. How to make timing adjustments. How to eliminate all emissions tests, but still pass OBDII tests. Stay tuned for when I find some time to post info, or start posting info yourself if you think you already know how to do this, or something else you think is useful. Also, please let me know if there is something specific you want covered.

I have done something similar for the which is now in draft form and being reviewed by someone from another tuning forum. Because of my lack of a working knowledge of Bosch Motronic ME7 tuning, I have had to base it on the S4 wiki and supplement with actual maps from the Audi TT 8N 225 BAM and BFV and sections of the translated funktionsrahmen. I am hoping the guy reviewing it will be able to offer enough assistance that I can significantly reduce, or even eliminate my heavy reliance on the S4 wiki structure. I am happy to make it available here in due course, but might be a good idea to pool resources if you would like sight of it Tony?

On the diffrent end of the scale form what I've already posted of the s-afc; it seems that the VW guys as mentioned somewhere in here have tools like Lemmiwinks.exe and other software that they use to reprogram their own ECU's. The VR6 GTI aperently uses the ME7 ECU which I believe is the same ecu as the S70 just with diffrent Eproms. I'm wondering if applcations that they have developed for the VW guys will work for us since all we are doing is changing the mapping on the same ECU. Just wondering if any other people hav explorered this avenue? Hey, not many people tune me7 cars but all my tuned volvos are me7 cars just because there are advantages but it can be a tad harder to tune.

Since the me7 cars have drive by wire. Boost is best left for the ecu to control. Also me7 pulls timing before boost which of course you can recover timing fast than boost. At the moment the best way to tune is through remapping in the stock ecu as you know.

Right now i am working on some stuff with a company in sweden called NIRA EMS systems. They have software that works with me7 to keep all light off as well as offer you toall control of boost,timing,fuel, ect. If not Motec standalone system seems to be the next bet. Found this on google form VP tuning 'You guys give some pretty funny advice sometimes, the whole 'don't buy a MY99' thing is kind of amusing.

A V70 is basically a 850 with updated body and interior. The engine is virtually the same as an R engine is a 850R, except instead of using 15G's they use a 16T on the T5's, 18T's ont he 98's and 99's and then a 19T on the 00's. The difference is that in MY98 they used ME4.4 and then they switched in MY99 to ME7.0 engine management and went to a drive by wire system. Now there are not any inherent problems with the ME7.0 or the drive by wire other then you don't actually have a throatle cable. The engine management of ME7 is actually better than 4.4 in a lot of ways and lots of people have made great leaps with ME7.

As far as which is better, that's debatable.my personal oppinion is that a V70 would be better than a 855 because it uses updated engine management and they look a hell of a lot slicker. The AWD is a plus but it is not a 50/50 bias like in a scooby or evo.
